Next to the Zhutian station is the Dr. Ikegami Ichiro Memorial Library. Dr. Ikegami Ichiro served as a combat medic in Taiwan during Word War ll. He provide medical cares to the residents and because of his kind heart, he was loved and respected by the locals. Dr. Ikegami Ichiro love Zhutian so much that he returned back to Zhutian after his service to open a library to the community on his 91st birthday. Dr. Ikegami Ichiro died after 2 months. The library was opened in 2001, it provides over 1000 Japanese books for visitors to borrow. Dr. Ikegami Ichiro’s descendants come and visit periodically.
